In the Angel Room, an electric guitar transforms into a modern-day lute. From there, the work fans out to every part of the building. As in the earliest music, the (angelic) voice is the start of everything. For Bernhard Lang, who has a history as a jazz and rock musician, the angel is at the heart of an expanding musical mesh, in which past and present intertwine. But no angels without demons: as well as snippets of Palestrina, audio samples from porn films come peeping around the corner.
