Bach eagerly followed musical developments outside of his home region Thuringia. He was therefore overjoyed to receive scores from much-travelled colleagues, such as the violinist Pisendel, who gave him a trio sonata by Couperin, straight from Paris. In this concert, some enchanting works from Couperin’s Pièces de clavecin are complemented by a double concerto by Bach himself.
