'I once drew a person, as a memento of a concert. This sketch I called Guintche. It grew, acquired self-life and autonomy, it rebelled.’ Marlene Monteiro Freitas derived the name Guintche from Cape Verdean creole. It is the name of a bird, the name of a prostitute, but it may as well be an attitude, that of someone hopping from one event to another, his or her choices lacking any coherence. Through its counter-intuitive structure, Guintche responds as a wax sculpture: it melts, it solidifies, it brakes, changes form… And yet, it keeps the same nature, that is to say, it remains the same wax.
Strobe light is used during the performance.
