Showcase Time capsule Turangalîla

'Make the work you want, in a style of your own choosing, with a duration you want, the instrumentation you want, and I will not impose any deadline on you.' Messiaen was given this assignment by Russian conductor Sergei Koussevitsky. The result was the Turangalîla symphony, a work larger than life. As if Messiaen was trying to capture his understanding of life in music.
