‘In jest, the fool tells the truth’, says the proverb. Concertgebouw Maker Anna Danilevskaia and Sollazzo Ensemble illustrate how that worked in the late Middle Ages: criticism from under the fool's hood could be sharp, but it was elegantly wrapped in melodious polyphony. Young Belgian illustrator Chrostin underpins the programme with her drawings.
