Catchy tunes for violin, cello and piano
Earworms are of all times and all places. Beethoven incorporated the popular comic opera tune Pria ch'io l'impegno into the finale of his Piano Trio in B-flat major. And in her Piano Trio in G minor Clara Wieck-Schumann takes us from the one popular romantic melody to the other. Frank Martin, on the other hand, drew his inspiration from traditional Irish folk tunes: resulting in lively rhythms, spirited chords and haunting melodies. You can almost imagine yourself in a bustling Irish pub on Saint Patrick's Day.
