Argentinian Astor Piazzolla was born exactly a century ago. Drawing on elements from classical music, Argentine folk music and jazz, he freed traditional tango from its straitjacket and became a world star with his ‘tango nuevo’. This new tango transcended dance. As he himself wrote, it was ‘more for the ear than for the feet’. But above all that, it is music that goes straight to the heart. Accordionist Ksenija Sidorova and guitarist Miloš Karadaglić, two rising stars from Eastern Europe, couldn’t agree more.
