At last, the entire Grieg masterpiece

Edvard Grieg never wrote a truly Norwegian opera, even though that was his dearest wish. Peer Gynt was the only work that even came close. For that, he wrote music to accompany text written by the great Norwegian playwright Hendrik Ibsen. Grieg never fulfilled his dream of transferring the entire work from the theatre to the concert hall. It was only 35 years ago, when the full original score resurfaced, that this once again became possible. In this concert, the Brussels Philharmonic perform this rarely heard version of Peer Gynt's wondrous  journey, illustrated with some of Grieg’s most immortal melodies, such as Morning Mood and In the Hall of the Mountain King

En collaboration with Het Banket
