During this concert, a group of Western artists race endlessly onward. Their performance is bursting with boundless effort. This generates exuberant optimism, but it’s optimism that has lost its sense of direction. Their efforts know no bounds, but they are heading in the wrong direction. Concert by a Band Facing the Wrong Way is a performance about misguided effort that leads nowhere: its reverberations become tragic.
