Since the dawn of human awareness, the sun has been a divine symbol of the life force. All over the world, festivities and rituals in honour of its life-giving light are a permanent feature in every annual calendar. Over the next four seasons – at every solstice and equinox – Romina Lischka will perform stories she has found in traditional music that still sing the praises of the light. For the winter solstice she is delving deep into the darkness of the High North, with echoes of ancient cultures from Wales to India.
