Houselights off, spotlights on. The magic on stage gives way to virtuoso revelations. Michael Beil opens up the wings, so the audience can watch the musicians preparing to perform. Just as in a reality TV show, the camera is constantly watching. But do we really get to see everything? Attack seems to be the best defence, the spotlight the best hiding place. In Hide to Show, the ensemble De Standaard dubbed ‘Flanders most adventurous formation’ bring us yet another surprising, transdisciplinary performance.
