Wim Henderickx's achievements are boundless and his future plans are every bit as promising. This ever-affable composer often draws his inspiration from African and Oriental cultures. He sees music as a spiritual experience. But Ligeti's subtly-shifting clouds of sound, Stravinsky and Bartók’s love of the rhythmic, and Messiaen's highly differentiated colour palette also all influence his tonal idiom. Henderickx is a virtuoso orchestrator, with a striking sense of timbre. As a former percussionist, it is no coincidence that he employs an extensive arsenal of percussion instruments, often unusual ones. Besides this, he is also involved in numerous social and educational projects.
